ASME@WAU Music Festival
Agreement
- The applicant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of all the information provided in this application, and confirming that the submitted recording (if applicable) represents their own performance. Any student found to have provided false or misleading information will be disqualified from consideration.
- Upon acceptance, applicants must comply with ASME@WAU Music Festival regulations, which prohibit the possession or use of alcohol, firearms, or illegal drugs on festival premises. Engaging in any illegal activity while attending ASME@WAU music festival is also strictly prohibited.
- A student’s academic conduct is expected to comport themselves with basic standards of honesty and character. Plagiarism, cheating, and dishonesty in ASME@WAU-related matters are prohibited and will result in dismissal without any refund.
- By submitting this application, the applicant agrees to grant ASME@WAU Music Festival or ASME@WAU music festival-approved entities the right to use or distribute their likeness in photographs, videos, or any other visual media. Applicants consent to the creation and dissemination of any recording, broadcast, or electronic transmission of any kind, without compensation, made by the American Society of Musical Excellence (ASME) and Washington Adventist University (WAU) or other ASME and WAU-approved organizations during their time at the ASME@WAU Music Festival.
- Applicants acknowledge that full tuition, meal plan, and housing fees must be submitted in full by June 15, 2024. To secure a place at the festival, applicants with limited openings must pay a non-refundable $500 of the tuition and a $300 non-refundable resident accomendation and meal plan deposit (if applicable) must be submitted within one week upon program application submission, with the remaining tuition and fees due by June 15. After June 15, all payments become non-refundable. The housing deposit check (if applicable) will be returned provided the student adheres to all residential rules.
- I understand and acknowledge that the American Society of Musical Excellence and Washington Adventist University makes no guarantees, warranties, representations, or other promises in relation to the ASME@WAU Music Festival. And that it assumes no liability or responsibility for any injury or property damage that I may sustain as a result of participating in the ASME@WAU Music Festival.
- I freely participate in the ASME@WAU Music Festival with full understanding of the facts and circumstances surrounding the ASME@WAU Music Festival and take all obligations and risks associated with my participation, including the risk of property damage and injury to others and myself. I agree to follow all of the rules and regulations governing participation in the ASME@WAU Music Festival. I have the necessary insurance to cover and pay any medical costs that may arise directly or indirectly as a result of my participation in the AWME@WAU Music Festival, or I understand that I am solely responsible for any medical costs that may arise directly or indirectly as a result of my participation in the ASME@WAU Music Festival. Furthermore, I acknowledge that I am solely responsible for any action that I participate in associated with the ASME@WAU Music Festival, regardless if occurring before, during, or after the period of the festival. In addition, I understand that if I travel to the ASME@WAU Music Festival with a festival group and/or advisor, I will return with the group unless prior arrangements have been made with the festival faculty/staff who is supervising the activity.
- I understand that if I provide transportation to, from or within the festival site in a vehicle that is not owned and managed by the ASME@WAU Music Festival, or if I am a passenger in such a vehicle, the ASME@WAU Music Festival is not responsible for any harm caused by or arising from my use of such transportation. Furthermore, I agree that I am solely responsible for any actions I take outside of the boundaries of the scheduled activities, ASME@WAU Music Festival does not issue refunds under any circumstances, including “students come to class late, not show up for classes”.
- Eating, drinking, and smoking are prohibited in all practice rooms, teaching classrooms and concert halls. Water bottles for singers and wind instrumentalists are permitted but must be placed on the shelves provided or on the floor, no water bottles are allowed on pianos or any other instruments. Please do not place any items (i.e., book bags, pocketbooks, instrument cases, etc.) on top of the pianos. If chairs or stands are moved from other practice rooms, or if a piano is moved within a room, all items should be returned to their original locations at the end of each practice session. For security purposes, coverings may not be placed over the windows in the doors of the practice rooms.
- For applicants under 18 years old – both my child and I have read all ASME@WAU Music Festival information. We adhere to all the rules of ASME@WAU Music Festival and Washington Adventist University. Failure to do so may result in loss of privileges and/or removal from the program without any refund. It is possible that the student’s school or director will be informed as well.”
Terms & Disclaimer
1. Participants are responsible for their own expenses, including travel to and from the festival. Room and board will be covered as opted by participants.
2. Please take care of your personal items. The festival is not responsible for damage or theft of personal items.
3. The ASME@WAU Music Festival reserves the right to modify any rules, schedules, or other information related to the competition as deemed necessary.
4. Participants grant the festival the right to use their name, images, and video recordings for publicity and promotional purposes related to the festival, in any and all media now known or hereafter devised, without further compensation unless prohibited by law. By participating in the festival, participants automatically waive all rights for any material (financial) remuneration regarding the eventual publication and distribution of music video recordings on media publications and the Internet.
5. The ASME@WAU Music Festival reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any applicant found to be:
(a) tampering or attempting to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the festival;
(b) violating the terms of rules and regulations of ASME@WAU Music Festival;
(c) acting in an unprofessional or disruptive manner, or with the intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any other person.
6. The ASME@WAU Music Festival retains the right to provide the final interpretation of the event.
